Emmanuel Quaye, MD: MD
Dr. Quaye attended medical school at Emory University in Atlanta, and did a residency in internal medicine at Emory University Affiliated Hospitals in Atlanta. After his training, Dr Quaye joined the faculty at Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta as a clinical instructor of medicine, and became an assistant professor. In this position, Dr. Quaye had responsibility for teaching, and conducting research. His research interest was on minority health, with a focus on hypertension. He also did research on genotyping and phenotyping Cytochrome P 450 2D6 detoxification enzyme. He has published within his area of interest. In 2001, Dr. Quaye received the Dean’s Award for Outstanding Achievement.In 2002, Dr. Quaye moved to Hartsville to start private practice. In 2008, Dr. Quaye discovered functional medicine, a totally different approach to medical care compared to internal medicine. He incorporated the practice of functional medicine, which focuses on treatments other than pharmaceutical drugs, into his internal medicine practice. As part of his functional medicine practice, the “Food as Medicine” seminar series to educate patients and the general public about health issues, particularly the use of food to prevent, and heal the body of disease.
