What Is It?
Butterbur is a perennial shrub with a 2,000-year history of
traditional use. In the last twenty-five years, it has been
trusted extensively throughout Europe by neurologists
and other health professionals. It has been studied for
healthy cranial vessel support.*
Uses For Petadolex®
Cranial Vessel Support: In one clinical trial with 60
participants, Petadolex showed the potential to support
cranial vessel comfort and was well tolerated. After a
twelve-week period, almost eighty percent of participants
supplementing with Petadolex indicated a supportive
effect. In part, the mechanism for this action may involve
a supportive spasmolytic effect on smooth muscle in
cranial blood vessels. A second study with 229 individuals
indicated similar positive results. In this trial, optimal
dosing of Petadolex provided significant support
compared to placebo within one month. After three
months, over seventy percent of individuals experienced
a positive outcome.*
Maintain Healthy Histamine Release: A petasin-containing
butterbur extract has been shown to maintain healthy
histamine and cytokine release. In two clinical trials,
butterbur maintained healthy nasal histamine release
and leukotriene activity, supporting both subjective and
objective parameters.*
What Is The Source?
Petadolex® is a patented form of butterbur extracted
from the root and standardized to contain a minimum of
15% petasin and isopetasin. It is processed to remove pyrrolizidine

Recommendations
Pure Encapsulations recommends 2-3 capsules per day
(providing 14.4-23.4 mg petasins), in divided doses, with
meals.

Precautions?
If pregnant or lactating, consult your physician before
taking this product. There have been very rare reports of
mild gastrointestinal discomfort with butterbur.

At this time, there are no known adverse reactions when
taken in conjunction with medications.
